Dedicated to promoting, supporting and participating in the life long sport of Ski Racing.
Alberta Masters Ski Club offers skiers of all ages the opportunity to continue to improve their technique and find new ways to conquer the mountain. Some of our more adventurous members choose to regularly train gates and race in Master's competitions. Much time is also spent working outside of the gates on fundamental improvements through free-skiing and targeted drills. Our active club has a current membership of approximately 50 individuals and is growing every year. With our own coach, the incredible Claudio Berto, setting a program for progression; every member finds their skiing improving each and every week.

We ski every Monday night at COP and Saturday at Nakiska in the beautiful Kananaskis Provincial Park.
Nakiska is the home of the 88 Olympic Alpine events, this hill steeped in ski racing history is an excellent venue to call home. With the continued support from Jan, Nakiska's Area Manager, Alberta Masters enjoy regular opportunity to train on the best terrain bar no where. Saturday's typically begin at the fireplace in the main day lodge between 8:30 and 9 am; at which time we head up on the hill for a morning of technical drills. After lunch and a video review session it is back on the hill to set and run gates for the afternoon. Sunday's often find many of our members skiing on their own, in groups or perhaps with Claudio providing us a few more pointers. Come and meet us at the fireplace in the main day lodge around 9 am. You can't miss us, we are the older crowd, some of us in skin suits, but all of us proudly sporting our red Phenix team jackets.
Monday nights are spent bashing gates at COP after a hard day of work. Working on Slalom or GS or perhaps some technical free skiing. We welcome new members; come try us out for a night or day (waiver is required). Season, drop in and punch card rates are available. Our Alberta Masters Alpine Team is a focal point for Masters racing in Alberta.
We are a proud member club of
Alpine
Canada Alpin. We have close associations and competitions with
masters clubs from across Canada. Alpine ski racing
provides a high caliber of intense sporting excitement for all ages from
18 to 80+. Our race courses are well prepared and technically certified
to provide a huge smile to everyone competing. Your skiing abilities
need to be competent, athletic would be good. Our main goal is to get
the most out of our individual skiing abilities through some fairly
intensive gate training and racing. As it should be
in all sports a sporting regiment and life experience are important
components of our program.
We train though out the winter in Giant Slalom, Slalom and SuperG
disciplines. We compete in 10 to 12 races each year and have enjoyed
hosting several national races of our own. All of our
races are run under
Alpine
Canada Alpin sanctions. ALL sanctioned races require a National
competitors card but there are 3 or 4 races that we have each year that
are just a fun loving gang chasing gates.

"As with most typical training camps, the group of athletes arrived full of enthusiasm in most cases, some doing their best to wake up from too little sleep. Discussion revolved around the days training to come, equipment preparation, who had discovered the latest “advantage” in preparing for the day and all of the other chatter challenging each other as they readied to leave the lodge at Nakiska to head up the mountain." Ozzie
