NAKISKA - Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Thank you all who came out and helped bring gates up the hill, set fencing and assisted with setting the Super G training course.  The weather was windy and gave us a bit of extra work.

NAKISKA - Friday, March 12th, 2010

The morning started with our favorite start of training, over 8 inches of fresh snow. Like last year we had to plow but this year we had a lot longer course of about  1.7 km course. This needed to be done so we can have some training times. After all this we were able to do about 3 to 5 runs with times. Most times worked but we had a few that did not put a time in and went through the finish, which caused timing issues. We did have one accident at the very bottom of the course where Katerina Kminkova went through the fencing. She was shaken up and was a little sore, but she vowed that she was going to race the next day. I really like to thank all those athletes and the volunteers that put in all their energy to help make these training runs happen.

NAKISKA - Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Super G Race day on Map Maker, it started the first part of the day being cloudy and snowing. There was not near as much snow as Friday. We were able to have about 36 turns and the course was about 1.7 KM long. Most found it very enjoyable and found the flats the test of patients'. The second run was a lot better with sun and the track was a little icy. Overall day was great and many were able to put on their speed faces and see how they could handle this long course.

NAKISKA - Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Giant Slalom Race day. The morning had a skiff of snow but the course was very technical with 38 turns with 3 banana turns. The comment made by most was that you needed to look ahead and there was very little opportunity to make too many mistakes. I think we had one race per run not being able to finish due to a mistake. One the second run the injected track (ICY) came to the surface and added another thing to feel. Most handled it but was with great effort to hold that ski on the correct line. This was a great day and Map Maker hill was fantastic to race on. This would be the same hill the Seniors Canadian Championship will have their downhill on next week.

I would like to thank everyone for making this event so successful. Hope to see you all next year to make this even more successful.

COP - Monday, March 8th, 2010

Jill and I set a Giant Slalom course with the gates at 21 to 25 meters apart. The course had some sections where you had to take a long turn and then change the movements to very quick movements. It was a cold night for the last night at COP. Most were sad to know that the evening sessions are done for the season.
