Proud Members of...
The Alberta Masters Ski Club is a group of passionate skiers who ski in a semi-structured environment with goals of improving ski technique and racing skills using a combination of technical free skiing and gate training sessions. The foundation of the group is a social and supportive environment where encouragement and active participation rule. Many members compete in various race competitions designed for or open to Masters athletes.
The club has become well known throughout Canada for not only the skiing ability of the members but the culture of friendship and camaraderie both on and off the hill. We are focused on providing adults with an outlet for skiing gates and an opportunity for continual ski improvement. We are a big family and encourage families to ski together. To make that happen, younger athletes are able to join with their parents. We are not a kids race program (there are other clubs available for that), we are an adult program who include kids as part of our family.
Our training takes place on weekends at Nakiska and Monday nights at Canada Olympic Park. Training sessions are a mix of free-skiing and specific ski improvement drills and various gate training combinations.
We have experienced significant membership growth over the past 10 years. Everyone at their own skill level, but all sharing a passion for the sport. Our coaching team is comprised of athletes in the club who mix their passion for the sport with their passion for coaching others. The on snow program is lead by program director, Derek Mortson, and our Head coach, Claudio Berto - both passionate coach, widely recognized for his coaching skills.
